The rains in Kenya were up to El Nino levels and went on for weeks. The flood gates were opened on the Tana River dams upstream and the river raged through Kora and onwards downstream, where it burst its banks. The Rojaweru River running through Meru National Park overflowed making it impossible to access Kora from the north. The main river road from overflowed making it impossible to access Kora from the north. The main river road from Kora Park HQ all the way through to Asako became impassable. Drift bridges were destroyed and it was many months before we could bring in casual teams to start rudimentary repairs.
