We spotted a lioness the other night, something that we haven't seen for a long time.  We have seen a disastrous reduction in the lion population over the past 10 years here in Mkomazi.  Poaching was a factor, to supply the trade in lions' teeth, claws and skin.  Poisoning is another major factor in their decline, significantly as a result of their encroachment on domestic stock herds.
