The 3 black rhino imported from the Czech Republic are in good condition. We are still supplementing their feed as they have had so much to adjust to and the dry season has been so prolonged. We bring in lucerne from Kenya and add horse-nuts, bananas and carrots to their daily browse. The tsetse targets are re-sprayed every 2 months
All other resident rhino are in very good health
Lee, a female who arrived with the second translocation of rhino in 2001, has had her first calf – a female
The Rhino Sanctuary extension is well underway. We are awaiting the grass rains to soften the soil so that the WPTF grader can then start to ‘clean’ the line
The USF&W funded borehole has been of great use in this prolonged dry season. The Scania water tanker is also making 90km round trips to the WPTF / MNR&T borehole at Zange.
