Priority Projects

We need your support to enable us to accelerate our work in Kora, which includes the establishment of a wildlife recovery programme for the Fringe-eared Oryx, the construction of ranger outposts, the construction of classrooms and kitchen facilities for local primary schools, a riverine forest protection programme and infrastructure development in the Park to help protect its wildlife and habitat.

Wildlife Recovery Programme

£146,000 / $190,000
for a wildlife recovery programme for the indigenous fringe-eared oryx (Oryx beisa callotis) including fencing, paddocks, stabling and stores.


Historical Education Centre

£20,000 / $25,000
to build an education centre to promote the history of Kora, the Kenya Wildlife Service, George Adamson, Terence Adamson and Tony Fitzjohn, and to provide conservation education for visiting school children, teachers and community leaders.

Community Outreach Programme

£8,000 / $10,000
for the construction of a school kitchen.

£16,000 / $20,000
to build a classroom at Kamaguru Primary School.



Infrastructure Development & Equipment

£46,000 / $60,000
for the purchase of a second-hand grader to be used for infrastructural development within Kora National Park.

to buy a Toyota pick-up vehicle for field work.

Riverine Forest Protection

£27,000 / $34,000
to help protect and restore the Tana River area to include the key biodiversity targets of the fragile riverine ecosystem and its wildlife. This includes construction of a ranger outpost along the river, maintenance of the road networks and the repair of drift bridges crossing the water channels, to ensure all-year round access to and from the river.

Construction of Ranger Outposts

£20,000 / $25,000
for the construction of additional ranger outposts throughout Kora National Park, which include uniports with basic kitchen facilities, ablution block and water sources, and high quality shade-net roofing.
