Kora’s landscape has been degraded over the past three decades with intense livestock incursions, commercial bush-meat poaching, the loss of its wildlife dispersal areas, charcoal production, the burning and destruction of the Tana River’s forests and climate change. However, the Kenya Wildlife Service has established a restoration programme, working together with the Trust on the long-term rehabilitation of the ecosystem, the protection of its habitat and wildlife an on continuing its work in the adjacent communities. 

The Kora project is a unique mission to restore a precious wilderness by a team that has a proven model to deliver. The Trust works in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service at every stage, and in close collaboration with the communities surrounding Kora.

Now is the time to accelerate our work and rehabilitate this vanishingly rare ecosystem.
